Accessibility

In order to meet these needs we have taken the following steps:

Text
If you find the text on these pages too large or small you can change the size to suit you. To do this you need to change the settings of your browser in the options, preferences or view menu (depending on which browser you use). For example, if you use Internet Explorer select:

View > Text size.

Images

Images on this site have alt tags which describe what the image shows. This means that if you have chosen not to display images, or if you are using a screenreader or other assistive technology, the meaning of the image is not lost.

Display setting
This website will display best at 800 x 600 pixels or 1024 x 768 pixels. You can change the settings in the control panel if you are a Windows user:

Start button > Settings > Control panel

APLAWS (Accessible and Personalised Local Authority Websites)
This website is run on the APLAWS content management system which places an emphasis on ensuring accessibility for all users.

You can find out more about APLAWS here:

and web accessibility standards here:

Pdfs
All attachments (with rare exception) on this website are pdfs (portable document format). The advantage of a pdf is that it will always be presented consistently.

You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open pdf files, but this can be downloaded for free at:
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html

People who have problems reading pdfs can convert them so that they appear as normal webpages or plain text. This can be done here:
