Parks and open spaces
Blow the cobwebs away with a saunter through Harrow's parks and open spaces. Invigorate yourself with a game of tennis or take your children for a shot on the swings. Alternatively bring along a picnic and enjoy some live band music on a lazy summer Sunday afternoon.
Canons Park
An eighteen hectare fragment of 18th century parkland between Stanmore and Edgware. The walled King George V Memorial gardens provide a tranquil retreat to sit and rest during a sojourn through the park. Canons Park received Green Flag status in summer 2008. The Friends of Canons Park have funded an adventure playground in 2009 and run various family events throughout the year.
Pinner Memorial Park
This park covers 13 acres of open space and gardens. An impressive fountain operates from the ornamental pond during the summer months. Other facilities include a small aviary, bowling green and peace garden. A well equipped children's play area with facilities suitable for disabled children is also available. During the summer months a jazz band plays in the park on selected Sunday afternoons.
Stanmore Country Park
The park covers 48 hectares of rugged heathland, meadow and grassland. Stanmore Country Park is one of the largest green spaces in Harrow. It is also one of Harrow's most popular spots for summer time picnics. Walks and conservation work days are regularly run through the year.
Harrow Recreation Ground
A community recreation ground that provides great sports facilities for both adults and children. Five tennis courts, three football pitches, a basketball court, a bowling green and croquet lawn are all available for use. Other facilities include a play area, which is especially designed for children with disabilities. Regular guided walks are conducted in the area.
Harrow Weald Common
Features 19 acres of heath and woodland, which are perfect for rambling. Pause at the View Point at Harrow Weald, which offers breath-taking views over London. Free parking is available from the viewpoint.
Bentley Priory Nature Reserve
This open space is part of a designated Site of Special Scientific interest. Discover woodpeckers, rabbits, rare grassland and the largest oak tree in the whole of Middlesex. There is also an adjacent private deer park which contains a herd of approximately 24 Fallow Deer.
